Winter capsule ’22

For months now, my life has been anything but slow. I said yes to teaching full time, along with my other already full time job. I had every intention of fully experiencing both positions and then deciding which direction to give all my attention to.

My late twenties and early thirties continue to be a journey of getting to know myself. Uncovering my genuine wants and needs. Giving into them fully and really listening to my own heart and mind.

For a time after my divorce, I was so lost. Having given up nearly everything I knew and loved about me. Lost in trauma and marriage and motherhood. For different reasons, women are so often asked to give up who they are. To put their wants and needs last.

Coming home to myself these past few years took time and love and it is ongoing. I expect to spend the rest of my life learning to love and know myself even more.

This winter capsule was one of the easiest I have put together so far. I accepted a promotion in my full time job and have said goodbye to teaching with so much love and goodness.

My capsule is focused on casual, comfortable wear for day to day, I am so lucky to work from home and I am able to wear my everyday clothing for work as well.

This winter capsule contains 30ish items – 5 pairs of shoes, 14 tops, 3 overalls, 6 bottoms, 2 dresses, 1 jacket. My accessory capsule remains the same across seasons, I own 4 purses, a few necklaces, earrings and rings – mostly a collection of beautiful gifts from friends and family. That is all.

I have a small conference capsule for work events and a pajama/work out wear capsule as well (let me know if you want to see these in a future post!)

If you are thinking about building a capsule in the coming new year, remember to take your time. To listen to what feels good and right on your body. What do you love most? What clothes feel good on your skin? What items do you return to again and again?

Your capsule does not need to be made up of entirely neutrals and work for everyone. It only needs to work for, and to be loved by you.

More soon,

Bonnie Rae xx
