My favorite podcasts

pcast

I don’t know why I thought everyone was listening to podcasts. I started listening to them a few years ago during the Serial craze (nope, not cereal, Serial) and I never looked back!
I listen to podcasts on my commute, when I’m cleaning, or on walks with the pups. They’re convenient, fun and educational- so many of them have changed my life. (Did you know John Wilkes Booth had a brother that was an actor and the assassination of Lincoln ruined his career? Me either. Podcasts tell you about that kind of stuff).
Let’s start from the very beginning, a podcast is audio broadcasting on the internet. Podcasts are like talk radio that you can download or stream. If you have an iPhone the podcast app already exists on your phone. It’s purple and it’s called “Podcasts.”
There are podcasts about everything and for everyone. From This American Life to the Purrcast, which is literally just episodes of cats purring. Like I said, something for everyone.

You can download individual episodes to listen to offline or you can stream episodes. You can also subscribe to podcasts so that new episodes will automatically download to your podcast app.
To discover new podcasts you can search the “Featured” section or “Top Charts” which pull popular podcasts.
In 2017, my year of adventure, I hope to discover even more life changing things, maybe podcasts will be a new adventure for you!
Below are my favorite podcasts. I listen to a lot of them but I recommend starting with just a few to get yourself started.
1. My Favorite Murder. This one is for my true crime fanatics. Karen and Georgia each talk about their favorite murder that week and they make it hilarious and charming. I know how that sounds but you just have to listen. These two strong women have changed my life with the things they have said and they’ve realized that so many women are fascinated by true crimes because we are often victims of them. Just try it, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
2. If I Were You. If you’re familiar with College Humor I’m sure you remember Jake & Amir, the hilarious comedy duo. This podcast made me laugh so hard on my commute I had to pull the car over, need I say more? I recommend you start from episode one so you get all the inside jokes, they’re a little bit coy about that. (Get it? That’s one of the inside jokes… never mind, just give it a listen).
3. The Slow Home Podcast, The Minimalists Podcast & The Simple Show. If you’re looking for some slow living inspiration look no further! These three podcasts will inspire you to shift and change your life in both small and drastic ways.
So that’s it. Podcasts are amazing and I hope you give them a try, or I hope this list has some new ones you haven’t heard of!
More soon,
Bonnie Rae xx
