Winter

If you’re a Gilmore Girls fan you remember when Lorelai fell out of love with snow.  She used to love snow. She welcomed it. She could smell it before it even started coming down. Even when the forecast didn’t call for it she knew when snow was about to fall. She felt it was a soft blanket that covered the world and made it beautiful.
Then one winter, Lorelai falls out of love with snow. Snow ruins everything. The snow she once loved makes everything terrible and she wonders how in the world snow could betray her like this!? If you’re wondering what I’m going on about click here.
I’ve been having my own falling out with the weather this year. Usually, I live for fall and winter. The people who know me best can tell you that I’ve spent my entire life waiting for the cold weather to come. Patiently waiting for the leaves to change, for the air to turn crisp, for the time when I need to pull out sweaters and jackets.
But not this year.
This year fall and winter were nice at first but then I ran smack dab into shorter, darker days with cold nights. I wasn’t prepared!
What do you mean I’ll spend all of the daylight hours in my office? Who forgot to tell me that these beautiful wood floors would be freezing? The cold is hurting my pupper’s feet and making her arthritis worse! Bah Humbug.
I started cursing fall and dreading winter. Once the great loves of my life, now I could see why others dreaded the days when summer would end.
Why am I telling you about my winter blues?

Well, it has taken me a lot longer to put together my fall/winter capsule wardrobe this year. I was waiting to see if the blues would pass, and while they still make an appearance once in a while I have found beauty in this new routine.
It’s cold and crisp when I walk the dogs, instead of sticky and sweaty. Kiley can roll in the morning frost and she has stopped shedding for a few months (can I get an amen from my fellow dog parents!?)
Coffee is always better in winter. A warm cup of coffee when there’s a chill in the air, there’s really nothing better.
Holiday music is lovely. Here’s my favorite playlist “Acoustic Christmas.”
The world is covered in twinkle lights.
I’ve made up with the weather and the seasons. I’ve been able to put together my 2017 Winter Capsule. (Be sure to check out previous posts if you’re unsure of what a capsule wardrobe is.)

33 items that I love to help me through this winter. Dressing each day in special items that I love lifts my spirits and gives me energy for all that lies ahead. After all, the best way to enjoy your favorite things each day is to only own your favorite things.
More soon,
Bonnie Rae xx
