As you may have already guessed, I’m not a fan of black Friday.
I wish that our whole country could use the collective energy and resources used on black Friday to accomplish something beautiful.
As much as black Friday saddens me, a great response to this day has been small business Saturday.
Small business Saturday is held on the Saturday after US Thanksgiving during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. It began on November 27, 2010. It is a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big box retail and e-commerce.
On this small business Saturday we were able to support a local tree farm. They have been selling wreaths and trees from their home since the 90’s. The business is family run and they have cider and cookies to boot!
