“The space in which we live should be for the person we are becoming, not for the person we were in the past.” Kon Mari
There are often ideas we have about ourselves, that we are this way or that and cannot change.
Sometimes these ideas are true, but many times they limit us.
I used to think I was an extrovert. Happy to be in a crowd of people I don’t know, ready to go out at a moments notice. But as I worked to know myself more, I learned I am an outgoing introvert- able to strike up a conversation with a stranger but left exhausted by the interaction and ready for a book, a candle, and a cup of tea.
Our ideas hold power, for better or worse.
Often, our things are a manifestation of ideas we have about ourselves. For example, I used to have a home full of pink and lace and floral patterns because I told myself I liked those things. That they were “me.”
But they weren’t me, they were an idea I had about who or how I should be.
We need to allow ourselves to change and to grow.
