12.6.15 Simple cleaning

Hi everyone!
Saturdays are my errand days. On Saturday mornings I head to the local farmers market to get fresh veggies and some coffee. Next, I head to the local thrift shop, called Gift & Thrift, to donate any items that I’m letting go of (there’s usually a grocery bag full each week.) Finally, I drop off the recycling from the week- unfortunately our apartment complex doesn’t recycle.
By the time all that is done it’s usually around 2:00 in the afternoon, so I head home to play ball with Kiley pup and let my cat Ming outside to spend time in the sun.
My Saturdays are for living slowly and enjoying. Sundays, however, are for cleaning. I find it best to tidy a little each day, and to do a major clean each Sunday.
Ever since I decluttered the house, I spend much less time cleaning. With less stuff comes less dust. And I don’t spend time moving items from place to place- all of my things have a place.

This doesn’t mean I never have to clean, I just have a lot less cleaning to do.
As I began my new, simple cleaning routine I wanted to make sure I was using products that had simple ingredients. It didn’t take me long to find a great cleaner made with white vinegar. White vinegar is amazing for so many things, but I use it to make an all purpose cleaning spray.
Not only is the cleaner simple to make, but it’s also extremely cost effective! Here are the ingredients:
1/4 cup white vinegar, 1 3/4 cup water, 20 drops of your favorite essential oil (I use lavender)
Put all of your ingredients in a 16 oz. reusable spray bottle, either glass or plastic, and you’re ready to go! We use dishtowels for cleaning rather than paper towels, and we have two small spray bottles so we each have one to use in different rooms.

Take a look at the cleaners under your sink. Look at the ingredients, many of them are full of chemicals. I used to use those cleaners. When we spray them, nasty chemicals enter the air and you and your pets and your family breathe them in. I’m much happier breathing in this three ingredient cleaner that works like magic.
I hope this helps!
More soon,
