11.25.15 Casual winter capsule

Okay. Let me just take a moment to say thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to read this blog. In just two days there have been hundreds of readers from more than nine countries. I am just blown away. I honestly can’t say thank you enough because your views and your comments remind me why I’m writing this blog- to share my journey and my heart in hopes of helping others.
Have I gushed enough yet? I could go all day! But I won’t- on to the content!
In my last post I shared five outfits from my wardrobe that I wear to work. Today I wanted to share a few casual outfits with interchangeable pieces, to show how my capsule wardrobe works for my down time as well.

I typically spend two to three days each week in casual wear; if it’s the weekend or if I’m at my grad classes rather than work.
This week I have been wearing lots of casual outfits because it is thanksgiving break. I was lucky enough to spend this day with my beautiful sister in Charlottesville, VA. She was gracious enough to take pictures of me for my blog because she is simply the most amazing big sister in the world.
I’m mentioning where these outfits were worn because I noticed something really beautiful today. Before simplifying my life and slowing down, a normal day with my sister would have consisted of shopping. Buying things that I told myself I needed because I just knew they would make me happier. They never did of course. So I would spend time with my amazing sister thinking about myself and thinking about stuff.
But today, today was different. My sister and I walked and talked. We sat down for a delicious lunch and talked some more. We caught up with each other and laughed at things only the two of us understand. We had a fun and unexpected adventure with two clothing tailors (more on that in my next post), and we looked at beautiful things without feeling the need to buy any of them.
I was able to more fully engage in this day and this time with my sister because I was not thinking about buying more stuff that I don’t need-  I was just listening to my sister and thinking about how lucky I am to have her.
What a special lesson that this simple journey has taught me- I am so thankful.
Now, without further adieu two simple outfits.
Outfit 1: Winter coat, cuffed jeans, grey turtleneck, warm socks, moccasins (Remember, you can scroll over the pictures to see where items are from)
Outfit 2: Blue denim shirt, white t-shirt, dark blue jeans, moccasins
Because tomorrow is thanksgiving I wanted to say again how thankful I am for my readers. I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you’re reading this blog. Also, today I am particularly thankful for decluttering, slow living, minimalism and what it has done for my life.
Talk soon,
Bonnie Rae xx
